Jessica Hernandez was born in San Luis Potosí, Mexico, and raised in Pasadena, TX. Her dedication to community service began when she started volunteering in Baytown, TX, where she assisted in an after-school program for elementary-aged children. Through this experience, Jessica discovered her passion for working with children and is now pursuing a bachelor’s degree in bilingual education, focusing on early childhood through sixth grade.

As a student, Jessica is particularly interested in childhood development and emotional regulation. She has been teaching for four years, during which she has learned the importance of building a strong and positive school community environment. Her teaching approach is a unique blend of structure, nature exploration, self-expression, and community-based initiatives, aimed at making sustainability education both accessible and impactful. Whether leading workshops, guiding crafts, or organizing eco-friendly projects, Jessica is committed to fostering a sense of stewardship and respect for children and the environment.

In her role as a community organizer with TEJAS, Jessica focuses on engaging young children through creative play, storytelling, and interactive learning activities that inspire a love for discovery and creativity. She also works closely with parents, offering support, resources, and workshops to empower them and foster involvement in their children’s development. By creating a welcoming environment for both children and families, Jessica is dedicated to building a foundation of trust, collaboration, and lifelong learning within the community.
